COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Review the prevalence and incidence of prediabetes and diabetes type 2.
- Understand the underlying determinants, modifiable common and intermediate risk factors in the development of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.
- Discuss the current advancement in understanding the metabolic processes and pathophysiology and of diabetes.
- Review the definitions of prediabetes and diabetes remission and reversal.
- Discuss clinical practice tools and guidelines defining lifestyle interventions for prediabetes and diabetes type 2.
- Review the previous efforts and current evidences on the remission and reversal of prediabetes and diabetes type 2.
- Discuss the impact of nutrition prescription and culinary medicine in the prevention, management, remission and reversal of prediabetes and diabetes type 2.
- Discuss the role of other lifestyle intervention including physical activity, sleep health, and stress reduction in the prevention, treatment, remission and reversal of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.
- Discuss the process for tapering and de-prescribing diabetes medications.
- Understand the role of collaborative team approach in establishing lifestyle medicine program for prediabetes and diabetes type 2 reversal.
- Demonstrate lifestyle medicine counseling for sustainable initiation, implementation and adherence to behavior change for diabetic patients.
- Demonstrate application of lifestyle medicine practice tools for effective assessment and monitoring of patients under diabetes remission and reversal program

course LAUNCHING AND delivery
The course is composed of 10 modules delivered in asynchronous digital format equivalent to 120 hours length including practicum and evaluation. The module requirements can be accomplished within 12 months period and will be followed by the practicum and evaluation.
