LIFESTYLE MEDICINE RECERTIFICATION
Whereas, Lifestyle Medicine is a newly recognized medical specialty practice in the country, the PCLM is tasked to implement measures for practice validation, create clinical pathways/guidelines, publish LM research and advance LM education. Hence, the 3-year recertification track was implemented. This endeavor is in collaboration with the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) and the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP).
As discussed in the previously conducted forums, Diplomates certified by the IBLM, ASLM, and PCLM from 2017 to 2020 may apply for the Recertification track to claim their "DPCLM" credential that designates a MEDICAL SPECIALTY PRACTICE in LIFESTYLE MEDICINE in the Philippines.
As you may recall, the certification given through the IBLM/ASLM/PCLM collaboration holds for the FOUNDATIONAL CERTIFICATION IN LIFESTYLE MEDICINE based on the international standard of qualifications. To become a SPECIALIST IN LIFESTYLE MEDICINE for both the international and national category, specific requisites for such qualification should be satisfied.
The 2023 recertification is an alternative track for LM Diplomates who have not taken the Philippine Specialty Board of Lifestyle Medicine ( PSBLM). The recertification track includes:

LIFESTYLE MEDICINE CREDENTIALING
As the PCLM moves toward the validation and regulation of lifestyle medicine practice in the country, credential classifications are identified:
Physicians holding the CLMP credential are those who satisfactorily completed the prescribed training curriculum in Lifestyle Medicine but still need to pass/take the Philippine Specialty Board in Lifestyle Medicine (PSBLM) Examinations.
The DPCLM credential is given to physicians who successfully pass the PSBLM examinations.
Physicians holding the DipIBLM credential are those who satisfied the IBLM requisites and successfully passed the board exam.
The PCLM Fellowship certification is given to diplomates who have satisfactorily complied with specific requisites, including the educational advancement in lifestyle medicine and academic, research, and organizational contributions to the college.
Non-compliance
The decision of those who have signified their contention with the PCLM recertification process is fairly respected as the PCLM diplomate membership is voluntary. Non-compliance to the PCLM recertification will not affect the credential issued by the IBLM for as long as the LM maintenance of certification (LMMOC) is satisfied. However, non-compliance with the LMMOC will require one to undergo the IBLM recertification after the 10 years mark. A Diplomate of the IBLM should use "DipIBLM" which is equivalent to the Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician "CLMP" qualification and membership category under the PCLM (as described above).
- Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician (CLMP)
- Diplomate of the IBLM (DipIBLM)
- Diplomate of the PCLM (DPCLM)
- Fellow of the PCLM (DipIBLM)
